Welcome to The Malthouse

Steve and Sue Redshaw are proud to offer first-class bed and breakfast accommodation at The Malthouse in Cocking, an old farmhouse steeped in history and character. Dating from the 16th century, it has been added to and extended over the subsequent five centuries resulting in a unique and fascinating property (Our Picture Gallery charts the fascinating story of recent renovations and refurbishment).

The village of Cocking nestles at the foot of the South Downs between Chichester and Midhurst within the boundaries of the newly created South Downs National Park. All our rooms have stunning views across to the green and gentle slopes of the South Downs.

Our three guest bedrooms offer spacious elegance and comfort. They include one twin and two double rooms, each having its own private bathroom (two bedrooms are en-suite, the other private bathroom being adjacent to its bedroom). Each room has a television and tea and coffee making facilities. In addition there is a guest lounge on the ground floor.

Breakfasts are served in our sister property Moonlight Cottage which is just across the road. Our breakfasts have been described more than once as the "best on the South Downs Way" offering a range of cereals, yoghurts and fruit, tea or coffee, fruit juices, toast and a full choice of cooked breakfasts. Continental breakfasts are also available on request.
